U.S. Constitution Signed 225 Years Ago Today

I could’ve written this article from any number of perspectives…

Who runs this country? Three simple words say it all. (Photo: usconstitution.me)

But after trying them all, I’ve decided to keep it very simple:

Since its signing, exactly 225 years ago TODAY, on September 17, 1787, the Constitution has served as the supreme law of the land for our beloved United States of America. The freedoms and protections it guarantees to all American citizens is reason enough for our continued thanks and remembrance.

But…where are all the celebrations? The parades? The patriotic parties? Are we all just too busy to stop and honor this historic moment?

I don’t know what the headline of your newspaper was today, but it seems to me that every headline, in every newspaper, in every city today, should be about the biggest story–the Constitution. Yes, and put it in BIG, BOLD LETTERS!

Here’s some homework for you on this important date…Look all about you. Watch the news on TV. Read your newspaper. Check the internet. Observe when, where and even IF the Constitution turning 225 years old has been mentioned. I think it may surprise you. Later, if you have the time, please write us a comment here at The Joe Report and let us know what you find. Hopefully, your news will be encouraging.

Finally, take a few moments to think about what impact the Constitution has had in YOUR life. Refresh your memory of the words in its famous preamble and the contents of the Bill of Rights. Tell someone else about the importance of today’s date. We have SO MUCH to be thankful for!

The depressing truth, fellow Joe enthusiasts, is that during this entire day, I have only found 2 references to this momentous step in the founding of our nation. One, of course, being this article, the other a one line mention in an article I stumbled across while looking for some history on a U.S. Army unit of the Korean War.

I have completely lost faith in most mainstream media, and the public school system.
