The polls are closed. The results are in!

In a landslide victory, “America’s Movable Fighting Man,” G.I. Joe, has been declared the official winner in a recent worldwide “Favorite Toys” election conducted by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. According to the museum’s official press release…

“After eight weeks of voting, more than 24,000 votes, and 600 stories shared, the final results are in and The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis online visitors and fans have determined their favorite toy from the past century. The top toy is GIjOE!

“The feedback and support from the public for this initiative has been extraordinary,” said Dr. Jeffrey H. Patchen, president & CEO, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Toys are a powerful tool for exploration and imagination as we learn and grow.

Beginning on Sept. 11, the final 20 toys will be on display at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for the public to view through the end of the year.”

If you read the line in the second paragraph of their press release again, it’s easy to see why GIjOE emerged as the victor…

“Toys are a powerful tool for EXPLORATION and IMAGINATION as we learn and grow.”

Clearly, no toy has ever fulfilled that role better than GIjOE. Our sincerest congratulations to our 12″ hero—now the world’s “#1 Favorite Toy.” GO JOE!

HA! As if there was any doubt who would win.

Honestly, going to that site brought back a lot of memories of my childhood. So many classic playthings, so much fuel for the imagination, and we have nothing compatible to offer today’s children.
